Great Work/Life Balance




I am enjoying this time so much! Yes, I mean “enjoying this time during Covid-19”. Weird for you to read that right? I know.. Here’s why:


  1. I am able to spend more time at home

  2. I really get to focus on my business and what it means to me

  3. I get to reevaluate how and why I’m doing the things I’m doing for my business

  4. I truly get to unwind at the end of my day


Before Covid-19 hit here in the US, I was working like crazy! I mean 50+ hours a week waxing bodies! I didn’t mind this because I loved my job(and still do!). However, when Covid came through and we had a major lockdown, it came with a whirlwind of emotions. I was worried, scared, confused, and I would have to say..I was SAD!


After those crazy emotions came and went, my mind started going and going! What now? When will I be able to open my business again? Will I go out of business? Will I lose my business for good? What will happen with my destination wedding in November?! Well, one day I sat down and really started writing things out. I was essentially putting together a checklist of things I needed to do or what I could do during this time.


Once I got things down on paper, I felt a whole lot better! Don’t get me wrong, that list is getting longer and longer but I at least I am staying busy. As an entrepreneur and small business owner, you are working every single day, 24/7. There really is no down time when you have those titles. Well, at some point back in June I kind of hit a wall. I didn’t want to do anything or work on my business. I WAS TIRED! How could I have been tired if I wasn’t actually working(waxing)? I thought about it and said, “NO! I have been working! I’ve been working my ass off!”.


The last couple of months have been about me putting together a great calendar that I am sticking to in order to have an awesome work/life balance. Not a lot of people have that but I am striving for it. Here is what I am doing now in order not to get burned out from what I’m doing:


  1. Make a to-do list and stick with it

  2. Stay focused on one thing at a time

  3. Sleeping for eight hours (set an alarm across the room so you can actually get out of bed to turn it off)

  4. Always leaving my calendar open in order to get prepared for the next work day and get prepared for the next thing on the list

  5. Staying organized

  6. HAVE A SET SCHEDULE!


I really want to point out the last bullet point; HAVE A SET SCHEDULE. I truly believe that when you have a set schedule you will be happier. I mean literally write down on your calendar how much you want to work; 10-6, 12-4. Get ready for your work days and when you are “off the clock”, walk away. STOP WORKING! Don’t answer that work text, work email, phone call, ect. WALK AWAY! Trust me, it is so worth it!
